IONAS is an athletic association that advocates for the societal inclusion of people with disabilities through sport.
IONAS was founded in 2007 with the aim of restoring and improving the mobility of Persons with Disabilities (ΑμεΑ) as well as the preparation of these persons for their participation in Sports Events. A key means of achieving this goal is therapeutic exercise in the liquid element (hydrotherapy).
To this end, IONAS is active to this day in the indoor swimming pool of OAKA with qualified partners, gymnasts specializing in special education or physical therapists. The incidents we face every day vary because of ther diversity and the peculiarity they present, they need, most of the times, special – personal engagement by the therapist – gymnast for at least 45 minutes. During our years of experience we have taken on people with musculoskeletal, neurological and psychomotor diseases, either congenital or acquired.
